I am the grandmother of a newborn baby boy- 3 months old. I was present upon his birth - He was born without a rectum as well as his esophagus was detached. Of course he was hospitalized immediately for corrective surgery - a colostomy and repair of esophagus. I recently found out from my former daughter-in-law that many years ago my son developed herpes. He is the father of the newborn - with a young mother of 27 he is 45. He develped Herpes about 25 years ago. He is also a drug user - crack-cocaine, marijuana, etc. and spends much time in and out of jail. my question is - Could this congenital deformity in the baby come from my son`s chronic case of Herpes? To all the woman with herpes whom are thinking of giving birth. I have one child whom was born with it and one whom wasn`t...what a horrible thing to see your newborn baby with what looked to be like 2nd degree burns on her private area. My gyno new I had herpes altho I had only had 2 outbreaks in a 5year time frame. I told her in my 9th month of pregnancy that I had felt itching and she said `change soaps` trusting in her I did and 2 weeks later she induced my labor. My little girl hasn`t had an outbreak since she was 18months old and we all could only imagine the pain she went through. She is now going to be 7 and I know the day is coming when I have to explain this to her and hope she doesn`t hate me. She has been a sickly child a constant runny nose but she is truly a miracle. Make sure your dr. puts you on surpressive therapy in the last months of your pregnancy and communicate and demand a c section if you believe that you are having an outbreak. [215]

Hello, to all those thinking about having a child who may have herpes. I myself conceived a child at the age of 20, who by the way I had vaginally. He is as healthy as a horse. So if you have that special someone that you want to have a baby with, I`d say go for it and eat healthy. :) [134]
