Experience...
Chronic pain struck me at the age of 16. I was lifitng wieghts and suddenly smashed my vertebra in half and ruptured my disc at L5-S1. This occured in 1975. In 1998 I recieved a one time surgery that keeps me walking now and much better off, but no better to work. I am permanately Disabledand have limitations physically, but I am grateful for the things I can do. Chronic pain brings out depression and anxiety, mood swings and much more illnesses that are contributed to a permanate injury. I don;t even take medication for pain unless I just happen to need it and that is very rare. I have learned to accept it and live with it and try not to increase the pain by doing too much, but I limit my activities...drink my beer and enjoy life for what is left of it for me. That is all I can say and every person who has chronic pain suffers worse than me if theirs is severe. I have mild to moderate pain and it is excelled due to physical acvtivity. The less I do the better off I am and live every day without medication. I am lucky and very fortunate that I am walking. Just don`t worry so much about something that is in your control to make it better for you to live with. When your on Social Security like myself and 100% Service Connected with the Veterans Administraion...I get $3,100.00 a month for sitting on my ass and believe me, I would much rather work and because I am disabled I suffer every day of my life for a stupid mistake at the age of 16. Life is wonderful still for me, but I just can`t do the things I use to do. I live with it and enjoy my years left on this earth. The money does help me, but trust me for those who never have had a disability or have one...we know it is a killer if you let it get to you. So don`t do that and change your attitude about yourself and enjoy life. Peace out Al rozz [234]
